Dallas swampadelic fuzz faction, WO-FAT, today drops a brand new resin-coated canticle for your bong-ripping enjoyment. Titled “The Conjuring,” the smoke-fueled number comes by way of the band’s forthcoming new full-length of the same name.
Much in the same vein as their last two offerings – 2012’s The Black Code and 2011’s Noche del Chupacabra – The Conjuring boasts big jams and brawny riffs, the sort of record that turns the vaguely interested into converts and makes the corners on squares look even sharper. Guitarist/vocalist Kent Stump, bassist Tim Wilson and drummer/backing vocalist Michael Walter are jazz-combo tight and their roll is easy and natural, much like Fu Manchu, but far bigger and in the case of The Conjuring, far darker. There’s been a creature lurking in the woods since WO FAT‘s 2006 debut, The Gathering Dark.Their second album, 2009’s Psychedelonaut, pulled back on the threat some to lighten the mood, but whether it’s the motor-driven rush of “Read The Omens” or the you’re-already-lost-in-it riff-exploration of seventeen-minute closer “Dreamwalker,” The Conjuring is indeed a backwoods ritual. Bluesmen have sold their souls for less. Topped off with a mastering job from Nolan Brett at Stump’s studio and an otherworldly cover courtesy of Alexander Von Wieding, the beast that WO FAT‘s tectonic riffage calls to earth has never seemed more real or more alive than it does on The Conjuring.
Get down with the contact high of “The Conjuring,” now smoking out the airwaves of Revolver at THIS LOCATION.

The Conjuring will drop via Small Stone on June 17th, 2014 on CD, vinyl, and digitally. The vinyl edition — 180 gram vinyl with deluxe jacket and poly-lined sleeves — comes in transparent red or black, each limited to 250 copies.
In related news, WO FAT is currently levying their stoner rituals overseas on a twelve-date trek that commenced on May 27th in London. The journey includes an appearance at the illustrious Freak Valley Festival (today) sharing the stage with Truckfighters, Blues Pill, Solstafir, Mothership and more!

You know a band plays stoner rock when part of the band’s name has something to do with the marijuana culture. Thus is the case with Spliff Witchard. These guys have quite a bit of music. This is their latest released. It’s primarily instrumental stoner rock that is super heavy on the fuzz and gets a little sludgy at times. It’s pretty brilliant really. Continue reading
WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM Releases Track From Upcoming Instrumental LP Through Pitchfork
As Cascadian duo, WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, prepares for the release of Celstite — the instrumental companion to their 2011 Celestial Lineage LP — Pitchfork offers the public a foretaste of the impending album with an exclusive stream of its magnum opus, “Celestite Mirror.”
With over forty-five minutes of stunning, reworked versions of the powerful black metal anthems that surged on Celestial Lineage, on Celestite, the band takes a deeper excursion into the crystalline synthesizer-driven domains that have long intrigued them. With the aid of producer Randall Dunn, they unearthed a hidden soundscape that is only loosely tethered to their familiar sound, yet is still unmistakably the work of WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM. The scores of renowned sound-sculptors like Carpenter and Eno merge with the band’s Pacific Northwestern inspirations and through a literal wall of vintage synth gear, the previous album is here fully re-imagined and delivered on a parallel existence to its predecessor. The cover art visually enhances these expansive passages with an otherworldly forest vision, a collaboration created by Rachel Carns and WITTR‘s Nathan Weaver.
“Celestite Mirror,” the most extensive of Celestite‘s works, is a nearly fifteen-minute excursion into exploratory soundscapes as vast and beautiful as the band’s surrounding woodlands, and is now playing at mega entertainment portal, Pitchfork, who issues, “WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOMbuild from an eerie drift of synth glow and gentle bass-drum booms into a Vangelis-sized organ roar. Ahead of the halfway mark, they back into a Manuel Gottsching-like series of flickers and clicks, dispersing the darkness they once conjured. They manage a series of heavy-pawed doom riffs toward the end, but they offset the heaviness with airy synths and flutes, getting closer to Dark Side Of The Moon outtakes than Under A Funeral Moon.”
Discover what lies in wait on Celestite with a glimpse into the “Celestite Mirror” via Pitchfork now at THIS LOCATION.
Celestitewill see release in North America on July 8th through the band’s own newly forged label, Artemisia Records, with digipak CD, gatefold LP and digital download editions pending. Preorders are now available RIGHT HERE.
While Celesite bears new “non-metal” and fully synth-based output, the album does not represent a “change in direction” for WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM as a whole. In fact, the duo will once again join forces with additional musical cohorts this Summer and bring their torrid and transcendental blackened whirlwind back to the masses this year, beginning with a West Coast tour this Summer. From July 11th through the 20th, WITTR will raid their hometown of Olympia Washington followed by Bellingham, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, San Diego and Los Angeles. Additional tour dates will follow over the coming months.

New Full-Length Out Now + Band Graces The Cover Of The July Issue Of Decibel
Today, New Orleans favorite volume dealers, EYEHATEGOD, kick off their US live takeover in Atlanta. The near month-long trek follows the official decent of their long-awaited new long player. Assembled and financed entirely by the band along with US label partners, Housecore Records, the self-titled, eleven-track offering and first full-length in fourteen years was released yesterday in North America to the crucial adulation of fans and media nationally.
In a perfect 5/5 rating, Metal Underground crowns Eyehategod, “the ultimate EHG album.” Metal Insider boasts, “this entire album at times feels like being engulfed by a wet blanket on a 90-degree day… To say that this album is a triumphant return, or ‘the album we’ve all been waiting for’ are elephantine understatements. This album holds its own against some of the best of their canon and that alone makes it one of the best metal albums you’ll hear this year.” In a 10/10 score, Hellbound notes, “it’s all killer, no filler,” while MetalSucks relays in a 4/4 review, “The band’s trademark amalgamation of Ozzy-era Sabbath and side two of My War is alive and well. And while the band have been to hell and back… they don’t sound tired or fragile. They don’t sound reheated, either. This is fresh, stinking EYEHATEGOD pulling itself out of the NOLA swamps to backhand a bunch of reformed hardcore kids vapidly biting their sound. It lives up pretty much exactly to your expectations. Which is to say, it’s really fucking good.” Elsewhere, the sentiments are equal.HeavyPlanet gushes, “These sounds transcend the decades of abuse, both inflicted and received. They could have been laid to tape in 1988 and they’ll still resonate decades from now. Call it a refreshing helping of cold truth or a self-inflicted road to warped relapse. Another in a storied, weathered history of blooze-metal NOLA cocktails, EYEHATEGOD find their mark and fucking nail it,” Burning Ambulance notes succinctly, “This isn’t some midlife crisis cash-in, it’s daddy showing you how it’s done,” and Metal Injection proclaims, “in terms of consistency and sheer ‘fuck yeah’-ness this is right up there in that first tier of must-have EYEHATEGOD platters. Welcome back, boys. You earned it.”
As if that isn’t enough, the band graces the cover of the

HAIR OF THE DOG are a three piece stoner rock trio from Edinburgh, Scotland. They draw heavily on their mutual love of the late 60’s and 70′s rock scenes; whilst incorporating modern aspects of stoner rock.
The trio have played together for over a decade in various forms and bands, finally settling in Edinburgh where Hair of the Dog was born.
The band consists of brothers, Jonathan (Drums) and Adam Holt (Vocals & Guitar), and lifelong friend Iain Thomson (Bass Guitar). Together they have been jamming music since their school days, coming together to play the music they adored, by bands such as Zeppelin, Hendrix, Deep Purple and Sabbath; as well as more contemporary jam-style bands such as early Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Rage Against the Machine.
Fast forward over a decade of friendship, the dealings of life’s ups and downs and a bond shared only by those who truly share a musical bond; and HAIR OF THE DOG was forged; matured like a well-aged whisky.
In early 2014 the trio entered Chamber Studios, Edinburgh and laid down their debut album. In one weekend the seven track, Self-Titled debut record was recorded. The record has managed to capture the energy and atmosphere of the bands live performances and displays their wide variety of style and dynamic.
