The last 2 weeks I took off of work to get a lot of remodeling done around the house. Typical tear down drywall, put in insulation and new drywall, paint, bath tubs, etc. You know, standard stuff. I worked on that from as soon as my kids went to school until they went to bed. At the end of the day I was to tired to do much. It’s been a busy 2 weeks. In that time I listened to quite a bit of music. Some of it old classic rock stuff from The Who and Led Zeppelin, some 90’s era grunge from the big Seattle bands and of course, plenty of newer and modern day albums. I wanted to get a few words in on a bunch of these before my thoughts fade and I actually have to go back to hauling freight.
Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell – Check Em Before You Wreck Em – This is the band’s 2nd release. Out soon on Rise Above Records. I still listen to and love their first release. I hold it in high regards. The 2nd album had a lot to live up to in my eyes and I’m glad to say that it doesn’t disappoint. Their sound is rooted firmly in 70’s based hard rock and proto-metal. Sir Lord Baltimore comes to mind when trying to relate their sound. This album found it’s way on repeat a few times while I was tearing stuff up. I think the guys were chugging gasoline when they recorded this album because they’re firing on all cylinders from start to finish. Continue reading
